Indesso Uses RTO to Prevent Air Pollution

Indesso embodies the mission statement: to create innovative solutions with sustainable natural-based ingredients for life in compliance with all relevant environmental laws. We strive to use pollution prevention and environmental best practices in all our operational locations.

One of our efforts in preventing air pollution is highlighted in our Spray Drying Production Process, where we use the Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) in the finishing phase. Indesso uses Spray Dryer to transform liquid products into powder or granule forms.

At the end of the spray drying process, there are Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) as byproducts. Indesso invested in an emission control device, Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO), to treat the VCO before releasing it into the atmosphere.

RTO is commonly used in process industries to combat air pollution, create a cleaner footprint, and ensure quality compliance. It works by oxidizing the VOC in a combustion chamber set at a very high temperature (up to 1,000° C) and then converting it to carbon dioxide and water. These processes destroy VCOs with negligible byproducts and no hazardous waste to be disposed of. As a result, our manufacturing site has odor-free and cleaner air quality. We remain in compliance with air quality standards and promote safe conditions for our employees and the surrounding community.
