Ungaran, Central Java, 4 December 2024 – Indesso has officially soft-launched its second vanillin production facility in Ungaran, Central Java, following an investment of over USD 20 million. This cutting-edge facility will eventually double the company’s existing production capacity of vanillin derived from clove oil and represents a significant step forward in efficiency and sustainability.
Vanillin ex clove is a vital ingredient in the flavor and fragrance (F&F) industries, with applications in flavor, fragrance, food & beverage, and cosmetics products. With global demand for natural ingredients on the rise, the new facility positions Indesso to better serve these markets.
Next-Generation Technology for Greater Efficiency
The new Ungaran plant sets itself apart from the existing vanillin production facility in Cileungsi by adopting technology that significantly reduces energy consumption. This advanced closed-loop system minimizes losses during production, resulting in higher yields. Additionally, waste from the process is minimal and reused in subsequent production cycles, aligning with Indesso’s commitment to green manufacturing and resource efficiency.
“The Ungaran facility reflects our vision to innovate responsibly,” said Robby Gunawan, CEO of Indesso. “By adopting more efficient processes, we can meet the growing demand for vanillin while reducing our environmental impact.”
Symbolic Opening and Sustainable Growth
Indesso board members and managers planted clove and nutmeg trees on-site to commemorate the soft opening. This ceremony highlighted the company’s deep connection to nature and its mission to grow sustainably alongside local communities.
“This expansion is more than an increase in capacity,” Robby added. “It represents a new benchmark for technology, efficiency, and sustainability, further strengthening our position as a leader in Indonesian Essential Oils and Aroma Ingredients.”
Driving Positive Change
By leveraging Indonesia’s abundant clove oil resources and supporting local farmers, Indesso’s new facility not only boosts production but also fosters economic stability in the region. The plant underscores Indesso’s ongoing efforts to create value from nature and contribute to the global movement toward sustainable and innovative manufacturing practices.
With the new facility, Indesso is well-equipped to cater to industries that rely on vanillin to deliver exceptional sensory experiences while advancing its sustainability goals.
