Jakarta, 30 September 2022—Indesso welcomed H.E. Ambassador Macocha Tembele and Head of Chancery Suleiman Saleh from the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Republic of Indonesia in the Senseria Collaboration Space at Indesso Head Office on Thursday, 29 September 2022. The good relationship between both countries began in 2019 when Indesso initiated the investment in Zanzibar, Tanzania by building a Field Distillation Unit (FDU) for clove oil. The project started to operating just before the pandemic in early 2020 and has since brought direct, socio-economic benefits by empowering the people of Zanzibar at the grassroots level.

"First, we would like to congratulate the United Republic of Tanzania in opening up their embassy in Indonesia. It reflects the long-standing, good relationship between Indonesia and Tanzania. I hope through our direct investments in Tanzania, we can further develop mutual benefits for both countries," said Robby Gunawan, CEO of Indesso Group. Feri Agustian Soleh, President Director of Indesso (Tanzania) Zanzibar Ltd., who also attended the meeting, explained that through various collaborations, Indesso has increased the village's annual household income by up to 300%. "We shipped our first container of clove oil from Zanzibar just last August," added Feri.

H.E. Ambassador Macocha Tembele appreciated and fully supported the investments on the FDU project and beyond. "Initially, we used to be the exporter of a primary product (clove) without doing any value addition in the country. What Indesso is doing is very important. So we are very happy, and we are going to support that. If you face any challenges, if you find doors that are difficult to open in Tanzania, we are here, and we should be able to open those doors," said the Ambassador.

Indesso Tanzania (Zanzibar) Ltd. is the first subsidiary of Indesso Group in the East African region. Being globally well known as the leading producer of clove oil derivatives and other Indonesian essential oils, Indesso has built several field distillation units in Pemba, Zanzibar. Indesso establishes and puts forward the FDU development based on sustainability practices and green processes.
